Is it impossible to get shots like this (link given) with a K5 without stitching?

Grad filters in Lightroom can easily blur the foreground and back ground a bit, but those shtos could be good pretty easily with a fast prime. my 50mm/f1.2 can get much shallower DOFs than that

Many of those shots are sleeping babies - prime material for the Brenizer method (stitched panoramas that can achieve effects normally limited to medium format or large format). It's fairly easy if you've got a stationary subject; I find it easier than trying to "shop in" the bokeh...

EDIT: LOL.. Yeah, I read the title, but in flipping back and forth from the comments to the pictures, I forgot; what I started to say is that stitching is easier than it seems with some of the software out there....

It can, but a full length baby with a 35 on APS-c shouldn't bet too distorted.

Not too bad, even if you are pretty close. The biggest thing is that a 35mm lens isn't a wide angle on APS-C.
