K-5 Query, advice needed for purchasing decisions...

OK, long winded post eliminated, going back and reading more of the forum information, will post again later if the answers aren't clear.

Thanks

1. get the Pentax adapter...some of the 3rd party ones get stuck
2. depends what you consider "reasonable" :-)
3. nope
4. get the PKA for the metering
5. nope...from what people have posted, get the battery grip

Thanks, kenyee, for the answers, for those who might read in this thread and wonder what kenyee was replying to, here's the original questions I asked:

QuoteQuote:
So, to distill down this long introductory discourse into succinct questions:

1. What is the best M42 to PK adapter currently available?
2. What other lenses (of reasonable cost) should I consider instead of the kit lens?
3. Has anyone on here had personal experience with the Leitax mounts?
4. What are the opinions on PK vs. PK/A Adaptall 2 mounts? Is the PK/A worth the big bucks folks are asking for them?
5. Anyone here with XL hands using the K-5? With or without the battery grip?

For 2), if you're mainly into portraits, I'd say the tamron 28-75 is a good choice: Focal range is interesting (on APS-C, starts as a normal, and goes to a small telephoto), sharpness is really good, price is low, and it's full-frame if you still have some film...

Regarding hands size, I use size 10 gloves (say, between medium & large), and the K5 is just perfect... K10/K20 were huge bricks in comparison...

5. I have small hands so K-5 is perfect for me. The K-5 Silver has a bigger grip, so that could help you in buying that sweet baby.
