Pentax K-5 compared to other APS-C flagship review

Battle of the Flagships: Olympus E-5, Pentax K5, Canon 7D, Nikon D300s: Which is Better? at The Phoblographer

I thought this was a nice review of all of the top APS-C sensor cameras out there, excluding the D7000, for those of you that are deciding on a dSLR.

so I assume by now the sensor issue mentioned in the article is already solved. so k-5 would be overall winner?

I actually saw this review back when I was decing what I was going to replace my FF plagued K-r with. I found it very helpful and helped me cement my choice to go with the K-5 rather than the 7d or d7000. Most of the problems noted there with the K-5 have been fixed. I would have loved to see them compare it to the d7000, but my existing pentax lenses pushed me to stick with Pentax.

The point of that was the testing of a problematic pre-1.03 K-5 (FF issues/stains) in the review would negatively affect the results. A test using a current K-5 might be reviewed in a better light.

In any case, such reviews are again misleading since the word 'better' is relative. Granted, you can test a camera for all the applications it can do, but not everyone would want to buy a camera for *everything* it can do, most have specific needs or genres they want to shoot.

That is because the d7000 isn't a top level APS-C camera.

Why not? It has good enough ergonomics and manual control to be considered as such :O
