I am about to pull the trigger on a K5 (body only) and it looks as though Adorama and B&H are both currently selling the body only for $1,327(USD)...

is this the best deal at the moment?

both offer free shipping.

thanks...i HATE to buy something and then find it for $200 less elsewhere...but i have a suspicion the prices are about to drop a little soon.

Prodigital 2000 seems to have the best price for a new k5 body. Pretty tempted myself.

When I bought all my startup gear 4 years ago it was from prodigital.

Superb prices and great service. I recommend them!

Amazon warehouse deals has K-5's used - excellent for $1060 and used - like new (likely refurbished sensor stain models, replaced by Pentax) for $1084

I held the k5 at a local store the other day. It was a terrible idea, I really want one now. I just want to hold out for a k3, hoping it will output h.264 video and have video AF.

Nothing on that yet. I just feel like waiting it out with my kx, which is still very capable. It's hard to do though, the K5 has some very useful features and the build quality is on a whole other level.

I hope the K3 is not due for two years. It will cause a massive marriage issue!

I bought mine form B&H for 1350 about 3 weeks ago, they had free shipping, but I was in such a hurry I got the overnight mail. They deducted the free shipping price form the overnight, and I had the camera in my hand the next morning for less than 40 bucks! They aere great about helping me with my decision, talk VERY openly about the stain issue, and told me ther plan for getting my camera back and another in my hand if there was an issue. I just ordered the scope 2 sensor cleaning kit, and a dry sensor kit from them and it will be here Wednesday. B&H is a great group of follks. I am glad I live in texas, because if I lived near them, I would be broke!

kinda off-topic...but still fun.

I live in CA....as far away from NY as it is....and i'm still broke! but happily so few years back i actually went to B&H....and when prompted if i had an account, i said probably not.....not realizing that the in-store account and mail-order account is same. so they asked for my phone #.....and lo and behold there was my info! haha i told the cashier how i've funneled so much $ on so many things from B&H thru out the years. (my pz-1p was my first purchase with B&H). interestingly, right outside of the store.....B&H left some freebies. i nearly picked up this 6-roll JOBO film developing tank. but probably couldn't have bought it on my flight back....

as far as the amazon warehouse deals go--i went to check it out...looks good. but is it for sure a refurbished deal? within this thread i first saw of the K-3 rumor.....just when i was done looking for rumors!!!

New K-5 for under $1250

I grabbed mine two weeks ago from Camera Land on Ebay for $1243, including expedited shipping. I was a little nervous, because of the low price, but the camera arrived 4 days later via USPS just as advertised. It's a beautiful thing. I shot my first video piece with it yesterday:

I just picked up one of these from Amazon Warehouse Deals last week. It was horrible! Couldn't focus with the kit or the 70 limited to save it's life. I maxed out the focus adjust and it was still way off, inside or outside. I didn't even check for the stain...this thing's going back.

Luckily, they had the new Body only yesterday at $1280, so I just went ahead and sprung for the $200 so I didn't get someone else's problem again...

yikes. point well taken.

I just ordered a new one from Amazon.

Earlier this year i ordered the Tamron 70-200 from them and my copy wasnt quite right, so they overnighted a perfect replacement. And when I accidently forgot to remove my new 77mm Hoya UV filter from the returned one and it could not be returned, Amazon sent me a new replacement right away. That was great customer service.

now I must go without sleep for 2 more days until the K-5 finds its way to my hands.

thanks for the help, everyone.
