K-5 overheat indicator - what is it for?

I was filming in a warm environment and after some time I noticed the warning. I had not looked at the view finder for 7-10 minutes (I had all set on the tripod with loupe installed). So I have no idea how long the warning had been on. Also I needed to finish the shoot few more minutes.
So what does happen when warning get ignored like this? Does anybody have something broken due to overheating?
