Skratch that last about focus, now atleast da*55 and da 35 macro ltd is set to 0 for optimum focus

no manual video...

My metz flash seems to be exposing the same for direct/bounce but it was just a quick test soo..

It's amazing how quickly the placebo effect sets in. I bet this is completely focused on the GPS unit and has nothing to do with flash or focus.

I installed the 1.10 update...It didn't change the appearance of my K5 as it did yours ...but it did put the GPS on the menu

The K5 seems to work just fine

Anyone reckon I can just skip all the previous firmwares and jump straight to 1.10? Or should I do a update over the 1.03?

It would say for certain in the readme file (assuming there is on in this case as v1.10 doesn't appear to be 100% offical yet). However, if it's like every other Pentax firmware release, you can install it over any previous version, it doesn't have to be v1.03.
