I think you will enjoy that combo. Many people have had less than great things to say about the 18-135 but it was the first lens I used on the K5.. in fact, it was the only lens I used for this: www.mardigrasphotobook.com

yea, i figured it would be a good one to start with. allows me the versatility. also gives me a chance to figure out what focal lengths im shooting at so i can pick my next lens (most likely a fast prime)

I made that exact same purchase last may and I have been thrilled with it. It is such a solid combination. Shortly after buying the k5 I went Pentax crazy and got the 21mm and the 43mm and more recently the tamron 90mm. Now I am trying to take pictures instead of buying gear. Which is hard!
