I've seen this on other Pentax cameras over the years.

Not necessarily....maybe just a small batch of bad parts? If it was a flawed design I would think it would be more common that one or two reports here?

We do have to remember that as with most all products, the winning bid usually goes to the lowest bidder. We are lucky we are only using cameras, not flying in space shuttles......

Regards!

Happened to my K5. Have to call CRIS to see if they have buttons so I can send it in. Someone said they ran out but had more on order.

I lost the button some weeks ago. It needs about 14 days to repair and was covered from the warranty

The K-5 is not only used by men, women use K-5s also but be careful with your next survey the way you structure your question when you ask them whether they have lost their button and if so how and where.

Maybe in english. My language is german and these little lost thing is called "Objektiventriegelungstaste" in my german K5 handbook. I'm shure no woman has thomething like that.

Here is another user (male! ) with the same problem

Don't be too sure. There was Lucy from Berlin... but that's another story.

Well, mine just popped off too. Mine is 1 & 1/2 years old and just over 10k clicks. Off to CHRIS I suppose.

Sorry to hear--nobody's safe from this hazard, I guess.

Well, these are complicated devices and things happen. It's always distressing when such a simple thing fails but...after 4 Pentax bodies this is the first 'cheap' part failure. Not too bad considering, even though it's kind of a pain.

Perhaps it begins with the SD card door, which is, IMO, a step down from the K10-K20 series, but there is something about the K5 that is a bit more quirky and less stable than my other Pentax bodies. It may just be the progression of manufacturing in our world.

Lens unlock buttom - K5

Hi, same thing just happened to me over the weekend. Back from a safari I discovered the lens unlock buttom from my K5 (bought only last May) missing. I will be in Berlin next week and I wonder if anybody knows where I can try to fix it. The "Objektiv Entriegelungstaste" that Green & White referred to. thanks, N

My super-glue solution has failed. When I lost the button I was fortunate enough to find it. However, the "fix" lasted only a few months and now I have to send it in. I know this sounds extreme, but I'm embarrassed to own a Pentax right now. Lens release buttons are almost as old as SLRs. You'd think a company as old as Pentax would be able to get this right.
