Finally going to pull the trigger on the K-5. Any advice?

So, I'm going to pull the trigger on the Pentax k-5 tomorrow. After all of the shootouts, DSLR comparisons, and different forums, I'm satisfied that I'm making the right choice.

Is there something that you'd wished you got on that first night of having the new rig?

I am aware of the stains but is there a batch of serial numbers that I should be aware of?

Any other thoughts please let me know.

anything after 39xxxx is good i believe. i think the first thing i did was figure out what every single button/dial on the camera does, this will be very beneficial in the long run. Also play around with the different dial configuration. And of course, take lots of photos of things that interest you.

Whats the learning curve going from the K-X to the K-5?

3 days tops. went from a k-x to a k5 myself

Again, it comes down to knowing what the switches and buttons on the k5 does in each dial setting. the best part for me was the slow realization that i could take photos now at 3200 whereas before i wouldn't even try to break 800; it is very rewarding.

S/N 40xxxx still has stain issue (check database)

Any stains would have been from old stock not sold before the issue was officially recognised and rectified by Pentax.

I think most people would like to have a full battery when leaving the shop, but mostly it isn't.

Have fun with it and just shoot some nice things to play around with it.
