Sigma 70-200 does not work on pentax k-5

Hello,
I have a Sigma 70-200 (f/3.5~4) and I'm trying to use it on my pentax k-5.
When I insert it I cannot use my camera: on the display it is visualized blinking "F --" and the shutter button doe not work.
I have tried to use the camera in every possible mode (M, Av ecc..) without any positive result.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

Thanks a lot!

Does the lens have an "A" setting on the aperture ring? If so, is it on that setting?

If it doesn't have an "A" setting, you;'ll need to go to the last item on the last page of the Menu (27. Using Aperture Ring) and change that to "Permitted".

Send the lens to :
Otis Squirrel
Texas
He will get it, the Post Office knows him well, he gets more mail than the IRS. Otis will have me fully inspect the lens, verify that it is fully operational and then return it to you in "due course".....whatever that means.
Regards!

also, if there isnt an "A" on the aperture ring, look for a differently colored f number (its mostly the highest). turn the ring to that, and you should be fine.
