K-5 Date of Manufacture

Hi,

I just purchased my first Dslr (Pentax K-5) after owning a micro four thirds camera fir a few months. I am attempting to locate the date of manufacture on my camera bit I am unable to do so. I have also viewed the Metadata and EXIF information via Aperture 3 but I see no information regarding the manufacture date, nor am I able to verify the firmware version. How do I locate this information?

Thanks for your help!

To see firmware version hold the menu button as you turn on the camera.
Not sure about date of manufacture.

Looks like you can do it with PhotoME

Once you load a picture type in manufacture in the find box at the bottom of the window.

If you are using a Mac, you'll probably need to use Exiftool rather than PhotoME (as I recall, that only runs on Windows computers). Downloading Exiftool and installing it are no problem, you'll need to use Terminal to access the information. After I got over my fear of typing commands in a command line, correctly typed the commands (I'm a lousy typist), I found it was very easy. Use "ManufactureDate" (without the quote marks) to retrieve the right field.

The terminal can actually be skipped when using Rob Lewis' droplets available here: http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/List_Exif_Metadata.zip
