K5 price drop-Canada

Wow, K5 now available for $1099.00 CAD, if someone ever wanted to get into the Pentax system, now is the time!

Even from Henry's, no less. The 18-135mm kit comes in for about what I paid for body-only. Ah, but I've had 10 months of joy for that extra $...

Tempting, especially since I can get that price at the local Henry's. I bought previously from Prodigital for $1299, but I returned it for poor AF in tungsten light (V1.03 firmware didn't help). If I had bought locally I may have tried a replacement.

OTOH, I'm curious about the Pentax MILC that Ricoh promised, so I'll probably wait. I just have to stay away from Henry's and I'll be OK.

A major turn off for me for buying locally in Montreal is the taxes!

Wow... Despite the cost of living in the province being lower than Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary (Cost of Living AND Personal Taxes...)? Canada doesn't even rate till Toronto at 54... Montreal doesn't appear till 72... In 2008, it was more costly in Bucharest, Romania and Limassol, Cyprus among others for example... You really think you are on a worse wicket than Bucharest ?

We really do want everything for nothing, yesterday, with a free gift don't we!

Well, my natural instinct is to compare my cost of living versus my neighbour in the south. Why should I pay 15%+ in sales taxes (on top of 45% income tax on my pay check) when can I can get it tax free just about 2hrs of drive from Montreal? I also have a house in VT just to give you some background.

Great - so you can then also rapidly identify the difference in the relative health of those two economies

The United States' economy is definitely in bad shape, so is the rest of the world - including Canada.
