ISO 5000-10000 Shots

This camera is amazing. These were hand held using my 55-300mm lens. The first two were shot at 5000 ISO, the last one at 10000 ISO. no further noise reduction used, and they were JPGS. This was done in low ambient light.

I've been using ISO8000 this evening and it looks pretty damned good from here. I'll post up some more samples later, maybe.

It's not just for very low light...if you need speed beyond what the light will give and also want to stop down for better resolution, the K5 will let you do it with ease.
ISO 6400 F10 1/160

Or in very dim daylight/cloudy conditions you can shoot wide open and still get some speed.
1/125 F6.7 (wide open Bigma) ISO 12,800

Either way you can get a shot you might have missed otherwise, or a better shot than you might have gotten at a slower speed. They aren't all success stories, but most of them are much better than no shot at all. It does change the game considerably.

K-5 and FA43, ISO 10,000. Shoot in RAW and converted to JPEG using PDCU. There are some visible noise that is acceptable IMO.

Yes, that's what I was doing on some of my squirrel shots. So much more fun than the K7. I really hope Pentax doesn't go for that 24 mega pixel Sony sensor, but you know they probably will.

Rupert, that little bird pic makes me think you sent one of our rainbow lorikieets to the laundromat and somehow managed to shrink it as well as somehow change its beak.
As for boosting ISO for more shutter speed, yep, I do that myself but usually don't need over ISO 800.
