Pushing 5 k shots in 5 weeks, still holding together, will see how it pans out. The ISO ... omg.. AF, little better than K7.

You are right. Someone else had commented that this was reported with the K7, but I don't remember it and doing a forum search on it doesn't yield any results. Still not sure what changed....

The point is, it wasn't much of an issue with the K7, where as it seems to be an epidemic with the K5

If you're losing sleep over it, why not pull the button off before it has a chance to fall of, and glue it back on? Problem solved, ulcer avoided.

I will report that I have not had any issues with the lens release button on my K-5 but after reading this thread I have added a bit of insurance in the form of a strip of black sports tape.

If the button ever does come loose I probably would not notice now, unless I removed the tape (which I will plan to do in a controlled environment and timing.)

I am at over 15K shots on this body so far.

Pentax has some really determined customers, no doubt in that. At the same time for me having tape over the button on your new state of the art camera is.......sad and funny at the same time.

But as the commercial say, "Be different!"

I've had only ONE issue with my K-5, purchased in early November of 2010. A relatively minor sensor stain appeared after about 10 months use. Living in the Phoenix area, I took the camera to CRIS in Chandler. 13 days after I left it, they called me to say that my camera was ready. They replaced the sensor, adjusted the camera to factory specs, and cleaned it. I've been using it for about a week now, and there appear to be no problems other than my trying to recall all my custom settings, which had been lost. The firmware is version 1.11, which is what it had when I left it for repair. In summary, there was a problem, CRIS/Pentax fixed it, and I'm happy with the result so far. After using my old K200D as a backup for a while, I appreciate again how advanced the K-5 is and why I bought it in the first place. I've been a Pentaxian since I bought my K-1000 back in the '80s, and have never had a good reason to change. Nikons and Canons prevail numerically, but I think I have a piece of technology in the K-5 that meets or beats most of what they have to offer.
