PENTAX Power (Some HD bird photos)

I am confused. Did you use the Sigma 50-500mm or the Sigma 170-500mm lens? Because my Sigma 50-500mm has never been that close to sharp and has been a great disappointment to me.

Yes, I used Sigma 170-500mm f/5-6.3 APO DG ASPHERICAL RF and use Sigma 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM. I liked Sigma lenses. But 50-500 is an incredible wildlife lens. Because minimum focusing distance too closer than the others.

Minimum Focusing Distances at Maximum Lenght (sorted far to closer):

500mm F4.5 EX DG APO HSM -> 400 cm -> 500mm F4.5 EX DG APO HSM

170-500mm f/5-6.3 DG ASPHERICAL RF -> 320 cm -> 170-500mm f/5-6.3 DG ASPHERICAL RF

120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS APO HSM -> 250 cm -> 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS APO HSM

150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM -> 220 cm -> 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM

50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG HSM -> 218 cm -> 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG HSM

50-500mm F4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM -> 180 cm -> 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM

Hi

I have obtained permission from OGUNTUKAY to post a colour corrected image of one of the kingfisher shots. By all means not perfect because of JPG limitations.

Please note the beak now has a bit of blue in it as it should and the end of the tail feathers are now the correct light blue.

Thank you my friend, I looked. But I must say: This kingfisher not a blue one.

You absolutely true for a bluish one, but this individual a greenish kingfisher.

Maybe interesting but true.

That is a wonderfull set. I had 170-500mm for a few weeks, but I'm not patient enough for this.

You must have a hell of a tripod to stabalize this set.

Thank you very much Ron. 170-500 is a good lens, I used a long time. I don't always use a tripod; usually shooting on handheld.
