Finding shutter count.

I'm about halfway through the manual but have not found reference how to display (in camera) the body data, like shutter count, software version etc.
Is there a way to display this somehow?

Thanks.

Well, not exactly. I use PhotoMe (PhotoME - Exif, IPTC & ICC Metadata Editor) - open a raw picture file taken with your camera and it will show all sorts of data for the photo and the camera data...

Mine is 1.11. I believe the differences from 1.03 are support for gps devices.

Just want to follow up on getting the shutter count. I've got PhotoMe and it tells me lots of other stuff but I cant see it anywhere telling me how many shots the body has fired. I'm guessing this is a non re-setable (unless repaired) data somewhere but how do I get it?

Use (well, try) a RAW file and look under "Manufacturer Notes"

Ok found it but brings up new questions . It's showing 1878.. I'd be lucky if I've done 200 yet. Since I bought it.

-Hello!
-Hello. May I help you?
-Actually yes. I'd like to try that gorgeous K-5. I wonder how good is it so I need to take some shots,to feel it,to hear it..
-Of course, no problems..

-No problem sir, we have the last one in the stock, so you are lucky today!

That might be the good reason for such a high shutter count. Mine had 0, because it was never opened and tested before me.

Well mine was also new in box but I'm calling the shop today for clarification.

Well I may just have to wear it as I cannot prove I did not put those shots on. Better chance had I known how to check it from day one.
Shop says it was 'in the box' never on the display.

Wholesaler/service centre says they never ship with more then 200 on it from factory testing.

Assuming the full 200 from factory and a very generous estimation that I've added another 500 to it, that still only comes to 700 and it's close to 1900. Hardly an insignificant discrepency.

On my camera the filename seems to match the shutter count exactly... so my shuttercount is 6955 and the filename in the preview display says 100-6955.
Also mine came wiht a shutter count of 0 (i checked my first photo it was 1).

My guess regarding your unit is that:
if I were a pessimist then it was a returned unit, or a demo/store model and,
an optimist view is that it was heavily tested by QA

Either way, I think in the overall scheme of things 2000 is nothing considering the K-5 is rated for 100,000 actuations(or was it 150k i forget).

Shutter count is different than actual photo count...
