K5 Camera Raw

Hi there,

should be getting my K5 this week and I have Photoshop CS3.

Does anyone know what version of Camera Raw first supported the K5 and if it is compatable with CS3?

I have had a look on Adobe website but couldn't see anything.

Bill

Shoot DNG and you'll be fine. The version of ACR for CS3 does not support the K-5.

Thanks, I was wondering about .dng.

I think the CPU4 that comes with the K5 is better than any Adobe product for processing and converting RAW images.

Better output may be, but it is hardly so convenient to use as lightroom.

+1 to that.

I use Lightroom and Elements 10. A brilliant combination.

I dumped CS3 in favor of a more modern version of Elements when I switched from a PC to a MAC. I do not miss CS3l, Elements gives me just as much control for 1/6 the price.

I don't know why but when shooting RAW and editing them in Lightroom or PS CS3 ACR , I never get that rich saturation. Is there any profile for K-5 that could improve color boosting?
I also use Bibble Labs - this is damn good program just for colors,it really can make rich and saturated RAW colors if you need, however I do not like overall Bibble interface - it is not intuitive, not very convenient and also shapening brings too much atrefacts (can't beat here LR and ACR). So is there any solution for LR and ACR for imrpoving K-5 raw colors?

I think you'll find that CS3 gives you a lot more control n some areas, though they may not be important to you.

I don't understand; you mean you can't boost vibrance and saturation enough in Lightroom? I find that hard to believe; I frequently have to tone things down. I believe the default profile for the K-5 is "vibrant" or "vivid" or whatever they call it -- could you have changed it to a more subdued setting by mistake?

No, I mean the colors of RAW are so dull in Lightroom, that even strong saturation boosting does not really come close to K-5 jpeg colors. I never get a nice, rich and ''tasty'' colors using LR.
