Half-Shutter Press/Release Sticking Issue

Half-Shutter Press/Release Sticking Issue <- Anyone have this issue with K5/7 Yet? To clarify it a little, when pressing the shutter button halfway to initiate AF all works fine, but when removing finger from button it is still engaged and thus keeps focusing while finger is not even on button.

I've heard of this happen due to dirt or grease accumulation around or beneath the button. One thing you could do is disable the half-press AF and instead rely on the AF button, but only do that if cleaning doesn't help. A compressed air canister might be worth a shot to try to fix this issue!

I thought of that, but then quickly realized it may cause some confusion - I shoot pretty heavily with one of the Kx bodies and obviously use half shutter press with that and would like to keep the shooting mechanics somewhat the same between the bodies.

I will try the air can and see if that works

You can also clean your camera under a waterstream and press the button, so if there is any dirt that will come loose and get out. Just tapwater is fine and don't worry because it is sealed. Remember if you want to flush something it needs more then a few drops. Afterward put your camera upside down and just use some tissue to get water out by pressing the button again with the tissue on it.

Ok, fixed it - what I did was, with the camera off, kept pressing the shutter button continuously for about 10 minutes, that seems to have fixed it

Thanks for the suggestions....
