Any good K5 books available?

Does anyone know of a good book on the K5? David Busch has written some good ones on other cameras but not the K5 as far as I know. I find the manual that came with the camera very basic and I need something that goes into more detail about how everything works on the K5. Appreciate anything you can come up with for me. Thanks.

I would suggest check out Yvon Borque's book on the K5. It is a very thorough manual easy to follow and is available electronically, if desired.

I only seen a book in French, so that doesn't help.

I'm thinking of writing something like this, what kind of information would you like to see?

Take each item in the Owner's Manual and explain what it means and how it works. Take a look at one of David Busche's books and you will see what I mean. David's books are excellent but he doesn't do Pentax. Good luck with this. I think there is a definite market for books like this as more and more people are buying DSLR's. I know from experience that most of them leave their cameras in the Auto mode because they don't know enough to venture into the camera's full capability.

I took the advice of Bramela and bought his K5 eBook. Unfortunately I selected the iPad version so am waiting to see how I can get the regular eBook for my Mac computer. In the meantime I am reading a Demo for it and it looks very good. Maraket, you may like to check it out. I for one like to have a real book in my hands so that I can mark the pages, scribble notes to myself, etc. This is why I think publishing a book on the K5 would be great. Be sure and let us know when it comes out. Biggest problem probably will be that no sooner do you have it published and a newer model is out there.

Yeah it'd be useful, I've read a few posts from people asking for a K-5 user guide. Obviously it'd take a REALLY long time, and I've no view to publishing it, but it'd be very interesting to write something. I'm starting with an in-depth guide to custom image presets, and the in camera processing that's available. I'll let everyone know when it's ready to be scrutinised.

It might to some of us; do you know the author's name?

Actually, Dave Busch DID do a book on a Pentax - the K200d ( I have it). And yes, VERY informative; way better than the manual.

I wish he would do one on the K5. How similar are the inner workings of the K200 to the K5 do you think?

If you read the Magic Lantern book on the K-7, most of that understanding will also apply to the K-5 as the body and controls are basically the same, and all the basic ideas are the same. But obviously there are new features/menu options and expanded performance in several areas. (And it actually did seem to me that maybe the K-7 ML book was rushed or the author was burning out on doing them -- the K10D ML by the same author was better written and more detailed. On some features the K-7 ML wasn't any better at explaining than the manual.)

This forum is a better resource than any book.
