Custom Filters

I have enjoyed and appreciated excellent answers to questions I have posted on this forum and am now hoping for more of the same. This time it's about the Custom Filters feature on my new K5. Does anyone have a reference I can use to learn how to set the variables in this feature? For example I would love to be able to create a Lo Pass filter for shooting items for sale on ebay. Once again I find the Owner's Manual totally inadequate when trying to learn more about this. I can't believe that Pentax would not provide a much more comprehensive manual for their professional level K5. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks - Ken

Open up the pentax digital camera utility software, take a RAW photo, and load it in. You will be able to play with the various effects as if you were setting them prior to taking the photo.

This way, you'll easily be able to see what each individual setting does and how it affects the final photo.

Shall do Adam. Great suggestion. Would never have thought of that.

Sounds like you expect a complete encyclopedia about photography to be accompanying the camera I sometimes have the same feeling, but then I realize it's just a manual and the rest I must figure out myself.

Hi careboy. I shot a number of RAW images in the Pentax RAW format and attempted to open them in the Silky Pix Developer software that came with the camera but not possible. The program doesn't recognize the files. They are all greyed out. Using the Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4 I was able to open the files but the Filter Effects were nowhere to be found. Maybe it's because I have a Mac and the software is built for PC's/ Any thoughts?

Can someone enlighten me, what is this software? I got my K-5 two weeks ago and the only software I got was DCU4... is this "Developer" software for Macs?
