K5 and Silkypixs

HI all
Just upgraded from K7 to the K5. I have SP v3.0 and it is not compatible with the K5. Is there an update to the software to load K5? if not, do I have to upgrade to SP v5>? If I have to upgrade, is the price really $200? At that cost, I may look at DxO or some other raw converter.

Thanks in advance.

You may consider Pentax Digital Camera Utility (PDCU) which is based upon the Silkpyx engine. PDCU is provided freely and the latest upate 4.34 is quite good IMHO in particulr in terms of IQ.

Hope that the comment may help, and Merry Xmas in advance.

What about configuring the K-5 to save DNG? V3 may be able to open that.

I'm a SP Pro 4 user. I'm not upgrading to v5 as my computer is not powerful enough.

I've found the Dodging control in SP Pro 4 very useful with both the K20D & the K-5. The Dodge feature is in DCU4. Have you tried it yet?

There is a SP forum: SilkypixForum.com - Portal

You could ask there if anyone's interested in selling SP 4 or SP Pro 4.

Dan.

dosan: I tried to save as DNG but the same thing is happening: I get a thumbnail but no ability to edit.

HCC: The reason I like SP is the User interface and the ability to batch. I dont think the camera utility provides that.

I am also considering capture one and DxO which are less new than the upgrade to SP 5 ($200 is steep for an upgrade.)/

You can batch process in DCU.

I'd watch out for DxO. Their Pentax lens coverage has been poor. They say their lens and camera range will be greatly expanded in early 2012, but I'd wait & see first.
