Has anybody had success in using a "Powermonkey" to charge a D-Li90?

I have this great device "powermonkey extreme" which will charge 5v devices - mobile phones, tablets, anything that takes power over USB. Many connectors (tips) are available for it but I haven't found one that outputs to a Figure 8 (i.e. the input of the regular charger for my Pentax bettery).

It can recharge itself from solar power it is rugged and I think a great companion when I go away on trips by boat - or run out the battery in my helmetcam by suprise. It would be great to be able to use it for my K-5 too.

Does anyone know of a different charger for this battery, that can itself take power from a 5v source like a USB cable? The powermonkey device also has a 1.2v output intended for iPads but obviously available to anything.

Thanks for quick reply. So I guess it's second battery / grip depending on how serious I get :-)

The 'figure 8' input on the pentax battery charger is line voltage (120vac). This, Pearstone Compact AC/DC Charger for D-LI90 Battery ADCPEDLI90 is a dual voltage ac/dc charger, with a 12v car 'cigarette lighter' plug as well as 120v foldout plug. This, Amazon.com: Black & Decker CP120B 20-Watt Power Backup Battery Pack: Patio, Lawn & Garden, is a battery pack/charger with a 120v output you could use with your existing charger. Never have heard of a 5v usb input charger for Pentax batteries. Sorry.

Since the K5 battery is 7.2 volts, USB devices can not charge the battery. Some of the systems from Goal Zero will be able to charge your camera battery as the solar charger charges a power pack battery which puts out 12V and has an inverter. It's not cheap.

Actually it is possible to convert 5V DC to e.g. 12V DC. Basically the same principle as to convert 12V DC to 120V/230V AC; just don't push it that high and rectify again.
