ipod, pad or android tablet

Is it possible to use and ipod or similar device as a viewfinder / remote on a pentax DSLR?

Not 100% sure - but almost: To the best of my knowledge the only, current workable solution is pk_tether, which again currently only runs on a Windows (XP, Vista Win7)platform. It cannot be used for live-view but the preview image with zoom control is quite handy for immediate control.

Not exactly, what you are after, but I use it with a small (very portable) netbook to my satisfaction.

I think, if you have rdp software on your ipad, you could use that to rdp onto a desktop running pk_tether, no?

I'm not aware of any tablet device with this type of input. There are small monitors available, though. The big drawback with mini-monitors is you'll still need a power source.

It would be really convenient to view the camera output on a 10" tablet while a big lens is on the camera - with a dual-mount tripod setup...

You can also try porting pk_triggercord. It runs on Linux and Windows:
pkTriggerCord
You can actually install Linux on some Android tablets

You have to build a remote (they give you the instructions), but this looks promising. I downloaded it but haven't tried making the remote yet.

Using the devices as a display will be the problem, they aren't designed with video input. Some may be able to process this as input via USB but I haven't found one yet.

Thank You all, this has been most helpful. I'm sure there are folks out there who are working on a simple APP for that.

Yeah pktether looks promising and a Dutch guy is working also on one for Android, it already works with most canons he will first add Nikon though but he said he wants to add Pentax as well at some point.
So it's coming.

Is it possible - yes. Is there a working solution - no. Is there a demand for a solution YES. Even tethered shooing is not possible without workarounds.
