Yeah, something is amiss when they are charging $1000USD for a K-5 w/ the kit 18-55, and $1300USD for the same thing but including a USA warranty. I also didn't see that they are an authorized Pentax dealer, but I could have missed that.

Hmm, thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to be careful with them. They did try to upsell, but I just say no to upsells. Other than that, no problems (so far).

K5 only been on the market for 1 year. The online price dropped from $1599 to $879! Sad for us k5 owners.

The day will come that the K-5 will sell for probably that price or lower, and me the non-K5 owner (and heavily suffering from LBA) will be happy to see that day finally arrive

My wife and I both payed the premium prices when we picked-up our K-5's about a year ago. And we've been so happy with our investments and we have absolutely no regrets in doing so regardless of the price differences today.

Two vendors in Vancouver are selling a body for $999 canadian. London Drugs $1049.

I bought mine for $1300 last September.

I don't know what the OP is going on about, this is pretty normal. I'm happy with what I bought. It was the going price at the time. If I waited I could have gotten a cheaper price, if I wait till the next iteration is released the price will be possibly lower again.

The cheapest legit price I've seen was a very brief $749 sale talked about in this thread. Looks like more than one person has received their cameras already. There is some speculation it was a pricing error, but I think if it were, it would have been corrected a lot faster.

Legit Canadian retailers have been selling the K-5 for $999 for over 2 months now.

I saw a K-5 body + genuine grip for € 1 169,69 ( 21% VAT included) over here (BENELUX) about a half a year ago, knowing that the grip is around € 250, then the body only goes for +/- € 949, that's not bad for such a camera!

Just bought one for C$1049 in Vancouver at a proper camera store. My friends were trying to talk me out of it because it supposedly signs a new body is coming.
I say either that, or they are trying to be competitive because there is *no* new body (not counting K-01) when everyone else and their dog is announcing new cameras.

For me, I was about to buy a used Canon or Nikon, and I am glad I got to buy a new camera for just a few hundred more.

I would buy one but:

#1 I don't have the money

#2 If I did have the money it would be better spent on lenses.

#3 Even if I was ok for lenses, My two digital bodies K7 & Kx are obsolutely fine and the biggest limit to their image quality are my skill or lack thereof.

Having said all that if someone wants to buy me one I won't complain!

Now I just need to *drop* one of my cameras!

$1629 here body only, in Australia, January last year (or was it Feb.. cant remember). It was expensive, but I'm happy to have it. With the kit lens its still $1599 from the same place I got it.
