Eyecup for Glasses

Hello,

Quick question, is there a comfortable eyecup for the K5? I have the standard one, but depending on the light conditions, it's a bit inconvenient when using glasses, I was wondering if there is one with a bigger rubber.

Cheers,

I have not tried these, but perhaps the company would tell you if these products meet your needs.

Hoodman only produces products for Nikon and Canon cameras. I contacted them a while ago about Pentax compatible products and they said that Pentax's share of the market is too small and not feasible for them to produce. You can try looking on ebay for an aftermarket eyecup. I bought one last year for $5 and it has been mounted on my camera ever since.

sorry to be a bother paul.. but could you point out the exact cup model you purchased and installed... most ebay items do not list compatibility with a k-5... thanks! dave m

I've seen some hoods in ebay but would be great to get the input of someone who actually has or tried one specially wearing glasses. The hoodmans looks awesome, but, it states Nikon and Canon...

Thanks,

Florian

No problem at all. This is the one I purchased.
Eyecup for Pentax K10D K20D K100D Km K200D K2000 K7 | eBay

I'm not sure sure of the schematics of the K5 eyecup but for the price I would just buy one.

the one pauld list seems good.

beware of those "6 in 1" eyecup tho, i bought one that is similar to this for $3:
6-in-1 EyeCup Pentax *istD K10D K100D K20D K200D SLR | eBay

and the "pentax adapter" extends the distance between the eyecup and the viewfinder, thus making the viewing space a lot smaller (there's always a corner of the viewfinder that you cannot view)
ps: i wear glasses

The good thing about the eyecups is that you don't have to jam your face into the back of the camera since they set your eye further back from the camera.
I wear glasses as well but I don't wear them when I'm shooting since I can see clearly through the viewfinder. I have to wear them to see the images when I preview them which alone is a pain in the ass.

it need not list K5 specifically just any digital pentax. the replacement diopters for instance cover all the digital line so an eyecup should be the same. I tried one for nikon apsc and it was too loose

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
i'd be interested because all the listed cameras have a larger eyecup frame than the K5, most being 35mm cameras. I can tell you my diopter fits my ds/k10/k7 but not km/mx/sv/spotmatic

not a large investment dollar wise... so i thought it worth asking first, seller said yes, so what the heck....
if it does fit without issues, i'll of course post here, but also recommend that the seller update his listing to
reflect k-5 compatibility.... if it doesn't fit, the seller will be made aware.... dave m

received the item today, came in a little plastic box, with the sonia name on it... have seen this name for lens hoods on ebay before...
fit perfectly and snugly on the k-5 ... the rubber is not terribly soft, seems like a mix of plastic and rubber... does have a metal frame and
glass, just a cursory look through seems fine... and does not compress the viewfinder info... hope to get out soon and snap some shots..
will then update with how it works in the field.... dave m
p.s. i'm going to contact the seller to inform him of compatibility for the k-5... would help other pentaxians...
