VIVITAR FIT PENTAX PK 135mm 1:2.8 LENS

Hi, I just bought a new VIVITAR FIT PENTAX PK 135mm 1:2.8 LENS, but could not able to take photo on my pentax k5. The lens fits on the body but I when clicked it blanks out the lcd and not saving any photo.

Are you sure the lens is fitting properly? Some Vivitar lenses have an oversized guard beside the aperture lever, which has to be removed or cut down before use. You would be able to easily tell, as the lens would fit in the camera's mount, but it wouldn't turn and lock like a normal lens does. If you can post a picture of the Vivitar lens mount, we can also identify the issue for you.

Aside from that, I'm not sure what the issue could be. What mode are you shooting with?

Thank you all for helping me out.
Selecting the "Using Aperture Ring" setting (#21 on the K-7, #27 on the K-5), and set it to 2 (allowed)...solved the issue. The 'How to use manual lens' guide is really helpful.
