Focus issues

Just wondering.
With all the focus issues that people have been having with the K-5, does Canon have focus problems too ?

If you dig deep enough you will find them. The focus issues of the k-5 has mostly been fixed now though (for a while now actually), much like sensor stains.

All manufacturers have focus trouble. It makes sense to check each camera. Pentax appears to be under average while others may do better - says a fairly well informed source. The question is not how well a company is doing, but how the user is able to adjust for problems. Live view reveals the slightest offset in focus accuracy. Pentax allows focus fine adjustment as well as shimming of the focusing screen which should do.

It would be nice to have a service available that would fine tune your camera for free - manufactureres as well as customers are probably just ignorant.

You don't have to look far:
canon 7d focus problems - Google Search
canon 5dII focus problems - Google Search

and of course there are the notorious problems the pro-level EOS 1D Mk III had with it's AF, which even get a Wikipedia mention:

And of course there was this set of AF tests done last year in Germany which put the K-5 first for AF amongst all recent DLR's, including ahead of Canon bodies like the 7D...

Well isn't that interesting.

Since I did the last update my K-5 focus is performing exceptionally well.
Only occasional problem I get is with plain subjects in very low light more than say 6 metres away.

The other night I was shooting with low light indoors, just dim room lights, and had focus trouble until I realized I'd forgotten to remove the UV filter.
