Bonsoir Douglas_of_ Sweden,

Please drop the other shoe ... did you get a phone number ?! (Wow, this is the first time that I've ever used a smiley on this forum ... giggle, giggle)

Allez et aux filles qui aiment les Pentax! Salut, J

Looks like Olympus is trying to copy Pentax now with their OM look-alike DSLR. But who would want a digital OM camera with just a 4/3rd sensor? Yes to a K-5 (or OM) with APS-C sensor with faster processor and improved features here and there, yes to a K-5 (or OM) with a full frame sensor, but who would want a K-5 (or OM) with a 4/3rd sensor???
Me. You get more camera in a smaller package with access to every lens on the planet. The difference in sensors is minor. If I had those sort of priorities I'd be shooting my 645. Arguing over the difference between two similar small sensors is a (highly popular) waste of energy.

And actually, Olympus is not copying Pentax but copying Olympus. At least the retro style is paired to correct function and ergonomics. I waited for Pentax to release a "Pentax Limited" that would have a cool and effective retro style, but I'm still waiting. Now the slack has been taken up by Fuji, Olympus etc. to full advantage.

Sorry I have no joke to insert about Swedish women.

Maybe related: Sometimes people with other-brand dSLRs notice my K20D. Sometimes they say, Nice Camera. Sometimes, if they have a Rebel, they ask for technical help. Sometimes, if they have a Nikon, they ask me to snap their portrait. Maybe the K20D makes me look authoritative (as long as I'm not wearing a machete at my belt). But nobody seems to assume that I'm an ignoramus.

Alas, the last Swedish woman I saw with a camera had an Olympus. And clothes.

I agree that the Pentax cameras do have a hard, rugged, solid feel to them, like older metal-bodied cameras and a more compact look- that's one of the things I love about my K-5.
Those Canons/Nikons are pathetic excuses for cameras compared to Pentaxes.

I have to admit....

....Being an old film shooter from the 1970s and 1980s it was that angular retro look that first got my attention - then I checked-out some reviews and saw that even in this scary, confusing digital age Pentax still makes solid hardware that is just different, in a good way.
