Crazy idea Re: D-BG4 knock-off weather sealing

I was just reading this thread and this came into my mind: since the better chinese grips have all the features of the original minus WR, they also have the grooves and holes for seals. Could one fill them up with silicon gel and make it weather sealed?

I was thinking the same thing, maybe you can just take that 1/16'' thick adhesive weather sealant foam and apply it to the top of the grip and just cut out the holes for the contacts and such, ya you still might end up killing the grip if it gets wet but that would be where it ends, i imagine your camera would still be protected, just a thought

Exactly, any way to fill the holes that water can get through.

PS What's the original grip made of?
