Import of GPS locations for "Simple Navigation"

Are there any programs (Mac preferred) that help generate those GPS data files, e.g. by taking a location from Google Maps and creating the fitting lines for import into the K-5's "Simple Navigation" GPS locations?

(BTW, Google's incredible: Just 3 minutes after posting this, I searched google for "pentax gps data file", and this very post turns up as #3 in the list.)

There is no program to generate the “Simple Navigation” files that I am aware of but the files are a simple text file that can be made by a lot of different programs.

The naming is GPS_DAT#.TXT where the # is the number for the number of data files you have. It must be stored in the GPS directory on the card you are using in the camera.

The format of the data looks like this:

TITLE= START

DATA= PENTAX_Itabashi JP, N35.765182, E139.691208
DATA= PENTAX_Shinjuku JP, N35.691746, E139.695465
DATA= PENTAX_Osaka JP, N34.676910, E135.507095
DATA= PENTAX_France, N48.933392, E2.240172
DATA= PENTAX_UK, N51.499111, W0.533009
DATA= PENTAX_Germany, N53.589733, E9.946554
DATA= PENTAX_USA, N39.756359, W105.219810
DATA= PENTAX_Canada, N43.604095, W79.734818
DATA= PENTAX_China, N31.199734, E121.444061

This is a copy of the data that was in the camera and coped to the card.

Here is a link that give the details: Simple Navigation | GPS UNIT O-GPS1 | PENTAX

The notes on the bottom of the page gives the limits and formats. One limit not mentioned is is you can only have no more then 9 in the camera and no more then 9 in a file then you must make an additional file for every group of 9.

DAZ, I had seen the .txt file already, but wasn't aware of the specs on the web site and the limitations. Thanks.

Import/export to card does not work for SDXC cards, at least not for mine (Lexar 400x 64GB) but works fine on an SD card. Bug? Or something quirky about my card perhaps, although it works fine for storing images and videos.

@dbh, it could always be that the format of the card is just not right for the camera. Try reformatting it in the camera first. Maybe that helps.

It doesn't help. But it is no big deal, they are non-volatile so I can swap in another card if I ever wanted to save these destination lists. I'd be interested in knowing if other people have found this behaviour when saving their destination lists to SDXC cards.

Thanks for the suggestion.
