How can there be so much dust on the sensor after one lens change on a new K-5 ?

I put on the 18-135 since I got this K-5. This is what the dust alert tells me. I don't understand, I just made on lens change and only had the camera without the lens for a few seconds while doing that. Here's a shot of the sky at F22. Might need to open it up full size and see the dust stains, they are there.

Also I don't hear shaking at startup dust action removal like I used to on K-x, just a faint noise.

I dont see any dust (maybe one tiny spec in full size) in that shot I wouldnt worry, false positives

k-5 dust removal makes almost no noise that I can hear. I have seen no dust on my sensor since Ive had mine. Used to get onto the one in the K-r pretty easy though...

Cool on the noise, I thought maybe there was something wrong.

The dust stains are there though, if you open the image and zoom in 100%.

Id say go out and take some photos

Who is shooting at f22 and pixel peeping at 100% anyways? even then it is so minor. You can get a blower or swab kit if it really matters. Mine might have this sort of dust but I never shoot/peep in those conditions so I would never notice.

I'll try that, thanks. Btw does F22 make the dust appear more than it would at F2.8 or F8 ?

Absolutely its likely the only time you will ever see tiny dust like that. 2.8 you wouldnt. f8 you would if the dust was big enough, likely not the tiny specs I saw there though

That's probably not dust. It looks like you aimed your camera at something other than a plain surface when you did the dust alert thing. It looks like you pointed the camera at the house across the street.Try it again and aim at a plain white wall, or the sky or whatever.

Don't take this the wrong way but based on what I'm seeing, I'd say there is a good chance you camera is totaled.
That being said, before you go selling it for parts, can you tell me if your lens release button feels firm and solid?
Mine fell off and I'm looking for a replacement.

The dust alert on the K5 is whisper quiet, I had the same fear when I got mine. Run the cleaning function a couple of times and see if you don't get most of it to go away.

Forget dust-alert, it is very trigger happy with false indications. Go outside and take a picture of blue sky, just make sure there are no bees, birds or anything else that flies, in it. Then look at it at 100% and see what you have and if a cleaning is necessary.

There were only 2 blobs I saw under quick inspection. They will like not show in normal use.
