Recently I purchased a K-5, and got it in the mail just a few days ago. I've been loving the high ISO performance and build quality.

However, one thing I noticed was that there are two distinct noises with Live View. One is the normal humming sound. The other is a off putting metal on metal grinding/gearing sound. The best I can describe it is the sound that is generated when you screw in a light bulb, but a little quieter. I know that's the SR mechanism (it goes away with SR turned off), but is that normal SR behavior? It's loud enough that someone asked me "what the heck is that noise?" while I was playing with the camera. I guess it just doesn't....sound right. Of course I could be wrong and that's normal behavior.

Yup, it's normal. They've fixed the noisiness in the K-01, and I'm sure future DSLRs won't have it either.
