Lens Release Button

The lens release button on my camera came off. Does any one know how it is fitted - friction or screw? I have tried screwing it back on as there appear to be treads on the button but they could be a friction mechanism. How would one re-secure the button?

Thanks

jlh

This happened to me and I ended up sending it back for repair. I didn't want to half-fix it when I'm wearing expensive and heavy glass like the DA*50-35 and risk it falling of.

It really is frustrating Pentax released the K5 with such a poorly designed button when it's so important.

This is a known issue with the K-5--see here.

My advice is to send it in for repair--because it's common, the fix is fast and free. I'm not a DIY type in any case but, even if I were, I'd worry that (even if successful) the weather-sealing might be compromised.

My lens release button fell off last Sunday and the button was lost. I could use a small nail that could fit into the small metal hole in the middle of the larger button space. So I don't believe the button is threaded. Looks like it is a fiction fit. It is only a guess since I don't have a button to look at. I am going to send the K-5 in for repair. A very good reason that I own two K-5 cameras.
