I guess the topic answers your concerns
have also used the K5 under rain and snow for several hours. No problems at all!
This was actually the main reason I decided to upgrade from Kx.

That's CRAZY !! I love my K5s too much to risk them in that way ! Just buy one of those protective camera bags - they would work just fine for that purpose. Weather proof under normal air pressure is one thing but under water the pressure is double air pressure by the time you reach 10 feet, and although this was submerged in just a few inches the weather seals are not designed for that sort of pressure.
Hi! I'm that crazy dude that took those pics. I wasn't planning on doing that but the opportunity presented itself so I did it. When I shoot motorsports the camera gets completely covered in dust (or mud depending on the weather) so the only way for my to clean it is using the shower. Never had a problem with the K20D or the K5. I always use my WR or DA* lens. I have full trust in Pentax weather sealing.

P.S....what part of NYC are you from? I grew up in Nassau (Mineola specifically, with some weekend getaways just outside of the Hamptons for fishing trips with my grandfather in East Quogue), and everytime I go home, I always include a multiday layover at JFK to spend time with my family and friends that stayed there when we moved to Florida (L.I. was just way too expensive for a single grandmother raising 4 kids...)
First off, thanks for your service Heie. I'm an ex NYer myself from North New Hyde Park (which is only a 1/2 mile into Nassau County) where I grew up in the 1950's. You've done some excellent documentary photography. You should change your MOS! I especially like these: IMG 6012 (1024x440) - Heie's Album: Update Number *Thirteen* Images - PentaxForums.com and IMG 6067 (1024x648) - Heie's Album: Update Number *Thirteen* Images - PentaxForums.com.
