All those nice options I would like. Turning into FF overnight. Getting to Level 2 in a heartbeat. I'm still just stuck at baselevel (Green mode) with an old camera

But am I the only one that crossed the 100k line?

It did not explode and the counter now says 100.040 images made. So we are good to go to 999.999 (I think).
So sorry for you. You aren't eligible for a free 645DII upgrade

100.803

Did an online shuttercountprogram:

100.803

Still fine.

I'm planning on keeping this camera (but you never know when I change my mind) and I do wonder how far it goes.

20 % discount

Well if you where offerd a 20 % discount on a camerabody, we probably all would go out and run to the store (probably just online). So I'm on my 20 % discount this weekend, since I'm running 120k actuations on the shutter and the thing is still running

That is the highest shutter count that I have heard of, on a digital Pentax. It could make it into the Guinness book of records (for Pentax). How cool would that be. Keep shooting till She dies.

Cheers.

If you paid the $1600 retail for the camera when it first came out that would be........$.016 per image (plus other factors like electricty for charging and extra batteries).
What would 100,000 pictures cost you in film and prosessing?

Then it probably would make sence to first learn to take pictures instead of learning down the road clicking

I think when you click the shutter at 99,000 shots the camera will reboot and the message will appear on the screen: 'FF Mode unlocked'
Sounds like a Final Fantasy mode... =))

There are plenty of digital Pentaxes with higher shutter counts, some with 700k or more:

I must re-phrase then: Ron`s shutter-count is one of the highest on PF and nowhere high enough to be in any record book.

The thing that wonders me is that there is not a single second person coming here and stating to crossed the 100k on his/hers K-5. So maybe all heavy shooters went over to other brands. I do see a lot off sports shooters and many off them have had issues with the shutters in their camera's and had to make repairs. So making >150k images a year is very normal.

Maybe because they're on continuous shooting mode most of the time?

That site accepts any data point if you go to a camera page and type in any shutter amount (I just did it). It doesn't require a JPEG with intact EXIF (showing the actual shutter count!), or any actual "proof" of the shutter count. I could easily have added a K20D that has "just hit a million!" So, pretty much any outliers on that "database" are just that: outliers (or out and out liars).

125.000

So this was a little disapointment. Excactly number 125.000 was the first image that had a shutterproblem. Didn't look at it that evening and had 360 black images (with noise and exif) after this one so it is clearly a shutterproblem. The camera did function normal at home.
