Yeah, I've really learned to love the k-7. On a tripod I can take stunning pictures of anything at any time and that's just fine with me. Shooting bands in a dimly lit room with a fast mf lens that wants to back focus in low light? Not so much fun with the k-7. I'm only worried that the tungsten af performance is worse with the k-5 than the k-7. Its usually the biggest complaint, but I also hear its overblown. I sure will know soon enough though!
A new body will feel so good. My k-7 is getting pretty beat up looking after carrying it daily. That black paint sure wears down pretty fast.
