I hope Pentax didn't change the camera identifier in DNG files so existing software supports the IIs on day one.
K-5 II DNG's may very well open in existing RAW processors, but the absense of a AA filter in for example the IIs will mean RAW processors will need to be updated and optimised to get the most out of IIs DNG's, since the sensor will be outputting differently to the original K-5.

Sample RAWs too! On your sharpest glass!
No AA filter + sharpest glass, ooh boy, we better get lots of band-aid beforehand.

Hey It looks like some fun times ahead.

Expecting a lot of interesting Images From the K-5 II and IIs.

Personally I will shoot a lot with older lenses (manual focus).

I ordered a Cheap DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL WR to use in bad weather as well.

But I wont report much on that one as everyone has one, Unless I manage to do something really fun with it.

A 2s plus the "Three Amigo's should be interesting. Damn Sigma for not including us for their upcoming 180/150 2.8 macros. I wonder how it will mate with the Tammy 80-200?

I would like to see if there is a differents in performance in hi-iso, since a lot off my sports images are made with iso2500-6400. I will order one, but hope to get some conclusion on that to descide between II en IIs.

It's not yet possible to pre-order overhere, but my store will order them and I can get the first copy.

We haven't pre-ordered yet, but one is definitely coming. We shoot so much landscape it's just a no-brainer. We were already thinking we should get another K-5. For us, the K-5 is enough better than the K-20 D and K-x those two camera don't get used unless we are both shooting at the same time. The K-5 paired with a K-5 IIs is just a no brainer. We may not order ours until Feb. but expenditures have been approved. This will make every one of our lenses sharper for most of what we do.

My K-20 has been a good companion and I intend to keep it for "snapshot" occasions as when I am with my grandkids. I intend to use the Pentax stock lens with it and be prepared for those moments of quick response. When I control the environment better I plan to use the Pentax K-5 II for photography. I generally shoot only prime lenses but when kids are on the move--and they always are--a zoom is better.

I had been thinking of getting the K-5, which is generally selling at $879. However, I think the $320 difference in pricing is worth the 2-years newer model with better auto focusing and being able to view the entire scene before taking the photo. Usually, I am a bit more cautious about buying new models, but I am taking a chance with the K-5 II since it seems to me that Pentax wisely kept the good of the K-5 and included some improvements on frequently mentioned concerns.

I think I will know when I get my K5 II. I'll let you know my first impressions.

I,m with the same dilemma: upgrading from a k20d....I almost ordered today the much cheaper k5, but did not yet. I think I can wait a couple of weeks till the k5 IIs will be reviewed by Adam

Nobody seems to want to buy something they already have. The IIs is just different enough that it's intriguing.
I'm slobbering for a 2s for the same reason. I've been trying to hold off until I saw a review however. I want to know
if a) the reported extension of support for lens corrections for all FA lenses is for real, and whether it works, and b) whether the
reported improved sharpness is visible with a 100% crop particularly of macos, and longs.

I have a perfectly good K-5, and don't consider the new focus engine by itself to be enough 'difference' to write a big check.

Maybe this is an interesting article about a naked sensor, like the k-5 IIs has.

The Camera Store I purchased my 2nd K5 Body from has advised me that I can Take the K5 with the box and everything that came with it and hand it in and pay the Diffrence and pick up the K5 IIs instead when it's released.

I will likely get a II when prices come down a bit, say six to twelve months after launch, or there abouts. The K-5 is still $1200 here in AU anyway, so when the II nears that price I may get one. I'd be perfectly content with the K-30, if it took a grip and had an external mic port. But those two things are a large part of wanting to upgrade from my K-r.
