How can you say this when the shots are JPGs based on the default (still "Bright" setting, I assume). This page states that Pentax' Bright setting has more contrast and saturation than most other manufacturer's defaults, while Natural has less saturation than others:

I think you have to use RAW output to make such a comparison, if you're going to actually rate one as "inferior." I'm open to the possibility that the Pentax reds
are "inferior," but this doesn't prove it to me. Since you can customize each of the JPEG settings (I have on the "Portrait" setting) it could well be that the K-5 II is just fine once you make the adjustments. I personally didn't like Bright, which is why I chose Portrait on my K-5, but I could no longer tell you exactly how I determined that. Perhaps my reds are better - I don't know.
