In my opinion, if you like the lenses you have, stick with them, and just wait til you can afford the K5 or ii.

How long would it take for you to get the 'II if you kept the '43?

It would take a long time. My two kids and my wife take most of the disposible income.
I use to get a bonus and would have gotten it then, but with the economy the way it is I don't get a bonus anymore.

I don't mind selling the k-7, k10d, and the tamron 28-105mm to get the k-5. I am just trying to decide whether it is worth selling the 43mm to get the k-5 II.

Be very careful - think twice and three times before selling off lenses. I've done that before, selling a couple lenses to buy another lens or a body only to regret it down the road. Actually ended up buying the same lenses again later when I could afford it.

Don't let yourself get sucked into the hype and frenzy surrounding a newly released camera. Take a good hard look at what you have. Take your K10D out for a good image taking session and get in tune with it again.

I think ironlionzion has the best advice above:

I used my K85 1.8 as my only lens for years having only the' 43 wouldn't be so bad. Patience is a....

I like the IQ quality of my two cameras as well. I have an istDL2 and a K100D.

Both of yours are allegedly better than mine for IQ

And the K5, K5II will be even better!!!????

On a computer screen? On a A4 print?

Don't think so.

Don't bother until one or the other of your current cameras fails

Time flies when you've got a great camera. I just realized that my k20d is now 4 years old. I hadn't give much thought to any new Pentax until now. I can't even tell you what generations I've missed, but the K5 at the current price is very tempting, or even the K30. As I read here, it seems like either one would be a worthy upgrade. I just need to eek out another few dollars to make it feel like I've won, and thanks to the price alerters here for keeping me updated.

I bought a K-5. So I am selling the K10D with the Tamron 28-105mm and the K-7. Thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions.

Glad you took my suggestion. You'll now have an A-1 set-up.
