I read the review about the k5 and it states it has front focus and back focus issues with indoor lighting. has this issue been resolved through firmware or after certain serial numbers?

It's resolved in the K-5 II, don't know about the old K-5, but I know that it's never affected me personally.

Never had any impact on me either. It always puzzled me to read about this.

There was however a firmware update early on that did something about AF and tungsten under low-light, I think, so just make sure if you get the K-5 to install the latest firmware.
