Playing back videos in camera

I posted here because the camera is a K-5 IIs, but it may apply to other cameras capable of shooting video.
Yesterday I popped out the SD card and slipped it into my laptop. Using Adobe Premiere CS6 I combined 4 shorts into one and exported it to the laptop's drive.
Worked a treat.
Except when later that day I attempted to play the original clips for my wife, the camera showed them all as unplayable - indeed there was not even a thumbnail image to see!
Undoubtedly Adobe had fiddled with them even though I had only intended to use them as sources for the combined output mpeg.

Just a heads-up. They are still useable in Premiere and playable on the laptop, but in future I'm write-protecting any card I stick into my laptop.

Any ideas how to fix these AVI files so they play in the camera again?

If premiere messed with the encoding, I don't think there's anything you can do to get your camera to play back the file. Making a copy of your video files is definitely a good idea!

Yes indeed and may my experience drive that point home.

I have since learned that to best deal with vids in Adobe Premiere one must first convert them from their native format to something called DV Type-2 - I'm currently in the process of finding the best (for me) way of backing-up and converting my files. I don't use my camera very much in this mode, but when I do I would like it to work out. I ran into much the same set of problems with my Drift HD helmet cam.
