K-5 II and K-5 IIs File Numbering

A minor point but I just collected my IIs and removed a battery and card from my K-5 grip and checked out the IIs. Beautiful camera. I noticed that the first file number was 8882! PhotoMe gave a shutter count of 38 and was I happy about that.

What happened was that the card I used had K-5 files on it (I should have formatted the card) and the IIs picked up from the last file number. Solution is to untick the File Number box in Record Mode Memory #2. Fire a shot and it reverts back to 0001 then retick the File Number box and start shooting 0002 etc.

I really can't wait for DXO to do the IIs, it will be interesting.

Regards all,

David

I did that in the past with a k10d. You can also rename a file on your sd card to the count photome reported now that you have reset the counter.

You can also give the photos taken with the kIIs another name

I had already done that (IIsP) but it picked up the old file number anyway.

The other idea of renumbering a file to accord with shutter count is good one, thanks Rocmaster.

FWIW I noticed that my K-5iis put its name on the SD card when I formatted the card.
