Does Pentax have worldwide warranty?

Hi I wonder if I buy a K5IIS in USA,is the warranty is valid for people living in Europe as well. If anyone knows that would be great,as its so cheap now to get one...but with no warranty then not worth it as shipping costs would eat any savings.
Thanks

I don't believe it is.

I live in Australia and have bought online from b&h (USA) and have had those Pentax items fixed here in Australia under "international warranty" no problems.

According to the service center here they do respect the international warranty, and do carry out repairs covered by it. However, you need to have a specific international warranty document for the item. This is something you need to get from the dealer when purchasing the item.Whether the dealer is willing to provide this would need to be sorted out before closing the deal.

I have a feeling Pentax is becoming increasingly aware of the problems caused by these price differences across the ocean. It wouldn´t surprise me if the recent price changes in the US had something to do with this.

With customs fee, tax and shipping cost, it's more expensive to import Pentax cameras from US than to buy it locally in Sweden. But I can get the cameras cheaper from other EU countries as I don't have to pay custom and tax within EU.

I bought my K30 at B&H and when the card slot filled with water because the seal on the door failed I ended up having to contact Pentax US, get them to mail me an International Warranty card (no charge) and then send it to Pentax Canada with the card. They still charged me $50 to have it repaired (well, it didn't ever get repaired but that's a whole other story). I should note though that if I knew someone in the US who I could have shipped it to and then had them send it to Pentax US it would have been repaired free of charge.

I just ordered a K-5 IIs from B&H, and tried to add the Pentax 2 yr extended warranty - it was rejected from my order as my delivery address is in Virginia. I guess this is Interstate rather than International politics. Is there any way around this?

yes but Denmark is cheaper than Sweden...see godigital.dk but the IIs is not therefore cheaper in US, and I get VAT back as a business so that helps a bit..
