Output to monitor as you shoot?

I just bought a DFA 100/2.8 WR since I just signed up for a macro class. It occured to me it would be so much simpler to work in my studio if I could output my RAW files automatically to my PC/Lightroom as I shoot so I could see on my 30" monitor (calibrated U3011) whether I missed focus or not.

Out in the field I can rely on LV (or focus indicator) but in the studio, why not?

What would I need for such a setup? I was thinking Eye-fi SD cards but I don't think they can upload on the fly?

Thanks! I did not know the English word was "tether" so it was making my research difficult!

If your monitor has a HDMI input, you could also just directly plug the camera's HDMI out into the monitor, switch to LiveView, and check focus directly before taking a shot.

My U3011 has two HDMI inputs so it's definitely a possibility. Monoprice sells very cheap HDMI cables, so getting a long one would be a non issue.

That's still not true tethering and now that I know which word to use I realize the options are very limited. That's strange.

You could use your USB cable and PK_tether, I believe.

Get a new Eye Fi. You can shoot then see your results on your computer pretty quickly.
