Where has the better high ISO performance of the IIs been documented?
Well, I said about 1 stop "effective" improvement. Just by looking at the dpreview studio test shots (look at the K-5 review, then pull up the IIs and II for comparison: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxk5/19) you can see it's at least 1/2 stop better. But, because of the better resolution, in PP you should be able to get closer to 1 stop with an equivalent looking result. dpreview doesn't tweak the settings, so you won't see it in their result. But I will say that I think the IIs 12800 ISO shot looks usable while the K-5 shot does not (when comparing RAW).

I suppose I could take a boring test shot with both cameras and compare them to get a more exact number, but I think I'd rather just take advantage of the improvement on shots that I care about.
