Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone had drawn any conclusions on how well the K5II is performing with Pentax/3rd party flashes. I'm having some issues with my K30, and I'm wondering if the K5II has similar issues or whether general experience says its working ok.

Yes, there is a pretty serious exposure bug with bounced flash, plaguing 3 generations of cameras: K-7, K-5, K-5II/s. It happens with all flashes, regardless of manufacturer - including genuine Pentax flashes. It has been reported and complaint about numerous times in the forums. I have recently conducted a controlled test to confirm and demonstrate the bug:

I read some where a few months back that the Promaster 7500 flash had issues with the K30. There was a free firmware update for the flash you could get to correct that. I've gotten in for my flash but I don't have a K30 to test it on.
