Wow the Sigma 30mm F1.4 focuses fast on the Pentax K-5 II

I wasn't happy with the focusing on the Pentax K-5 II, but I just got the Sigma 30mm F1.4 and it's fast. :O I took some random shots in the backyard and there was very little light and it still focused. Now my only complaint is in the video field, but other than that everything seems very good!

I'm still undecided about the camera though because I like to record video.

Does anyone else have the same combination?

It has always been my opinion that if you wish to take great shots then you get a great camera, which the Pentax is, but if you want to take Video you get a dedicated Video camera which DSLR Cameras are not.

I agree with the dedicated video camera thing. But there are also a number of things you can do to optimize the video on your DSLR, like use the correct shutter speed for the focal length, set exposure right, use the right fps, run the video through video processing software.. to get "pro" video results, you would need a tripod and dolly and to really plan your shots. For me, though, to take video on a tourist trip or something, its good enough. I just don't expect it to let me make feature films

That's true, but I just wish I could have the best of both worlds. I don't do many videos and I'm not a pro, but I wish I was able to choose the settings during video. I don't mine the frame rate the Pentax K-5 II. I just want to choose the settings.

It's nice to hear that it's also faster on the K-5.
