K5 (IIs) can work with the adapter (only)? For long timelapses or multiple long exposures we can pass the limitation of the battery and plug the DC adapter and work with it.

It can work with an AC to DC adapter. You'd leave the battery in the camera. The adapter plugs into a receptacle on the left of the camera (when seen from behind).
