Illegitimate birth that married back into the family

1978 Ricoh KR-5 followed by a KR-5 Super. Then a string of romances with K10D, K5 and now Ricoh and Pentax have legitimized me with K-01!

If you mean "birth" as in when I got my hands on my first Pentax that would be in 2003 and I would be a 1964 model Pentax Asahi SP born complete and near pristine with 55 and 105mm SMC Takumar lenses, and yes, I still have that SP today. I actually prefer the SPII and KX for film work but I still have my original Spottie.

After using the family Brownie Starflash (still have it), and a Kodak Instamatic, I knew an SLR was in my future.

I was 12 in 1977. Late in the summer the local camera shop had new K1000's with 50mm F2's on sale. All my grass cutting money went towards it.

And I've been Pentax ever since. Traded the K1000 for a used ME (was taken - didn't find out it didn't have manual until it was too late!), then traded that for a Program +.

Somewhere in the very early 70's I got a Mamaya/Sekor 500 DTL. In the mid 70's a Spotmatic II. So I gues I am some 40 Pentax years old. Unfortunately my human body is not that young.

I was born a little tiny "point and shoot" optio s50, back in 2005 I believe, then I grew up a bit into a *ist Dl then was when I realized that pentax was the colour of my skin, after that I traded myself up and converted into an upgraded Pentax K-x with some added family members along the way. then felt like I was getting old and went and upgraded myself again with the K5, I hope to stay this way for a long time, otherwise I will grow old (and poor too) Did I say I love this forum

Son of a K1000

I found my Pentax manhood with a K1000 purchased in the summer of 1977 along with a Vivitar long zoom, I think it was 85-205mm with close focus. I still have them. Graduated to a variety of M models, MX, ME, ME Super, Super Program, LX, P3N...then dropped to Point and Shoot cameras while my children were growing up. You know that period of life…all your pictures are of your family blocking the view of important locations!

Then when the K10D came out, I had a trip to Israel with students planned, and took my FIRST K10D shots in Israel with nothing but the 18-55mm kit lens.

Friday - 13th - July - 2007. I am a K100d and my owner`s first DSLR. I understand that he had Kodak, Voigtlander and Minolta before I was born. I still do a bit of work for my master, although I was neglected when a K20d turned up. Never liked that fellow, he was so big and arrogant. Thank goodness he was sold to make way for my new mate, a K5.

I started out as an SP 1000 with a 55/2 auto Takumar in 1976 on a clearance shelf.

I was conceived some time in 1971 on a school newspaper Spotmatic but not actually born until June, 1977 as a KX. In my adolescence I grew into an MESuper in 1984 and in maturity into a K10D in 2007. Now in my dotage I am a K-01 and 2 Q's. Dozens of brief metamorphoses into fixed-lens film and digital cameras came and went.

With the invention of eBay and KEH online, bodies and lenses that had been look-but-don't-touch cameras have been surgically joined to me. An MX and an LX have joined the KX, and are my current and likely final after-market parts.

I was born as a Ricoh KR-10 in the early 80's. As a teenager I went digital and became a FujiFinePix 3 MP. That was quite a change. I developed into an adult in the form of a Samsung GS-1X and was once again able to connect with my Pentax K-mounts buddies from the 80's. Then in middle age I transformed into a Pentax K200D. As the result of a mid-life crisis, I became a Pentax K-5 and surrounded myself with more K-mount friends. Growing lonely, I adopted a Pentax K-R so I wouldn't have to sit alone at home.

I was born a Super Program in New York..and traveled to SoCal in 1983 with a 70-210mm Pentax A lens along side me. My Owner worked part time in one of the biggest SoCal Camera shops at the time, I got to play with all sorts of loaner lenses as we shot races at Riverside International raceway, did some weddings, did a show for Stand 21 and even shot Corporate Covers for Western Digital Corporation..I lived a long life going to races and kids sports year after year. In 2007, I went digital as a K200D in April of that year. We picked up some more lenses, and the routine was the same. In May of '11 we picked up a 55-300mm Pentax and spent almost two weeks in Europe and ever shot an F1 race in Spain. I was living large, in June of 2012 we moved to the PNW...then in Feb of 2012, I grew to a K5. More lenses too..Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 18-125mm and a 600mm Mirror. Scenery is different up here, but I'm enjoying my time here quite a bit...

I was born March 2007 as a K100D since then I have had several technology upgrades to a K5 via Kx I think I will stay this way for a while yet as my owner is now adopting more and more magnificant glass for me to look through!!

He currently is promising to buy me a 16-50 zoom lens which Im really looking forward to as we seem to be taking a lot of pictures of a little human that recently joined us and fixed focal lengths are proving a bit problematic when trying to capture the little human as she starts to walk!!

I was originally born as a Minolta SRT and lived happily for many years with my family of Rokkors and successive Minolta family members but the end came when Sony invaded my parents' house and stabbed me in the heart.
I got reincarnated in November 2009 with my first digital body a lovely K7 and since then I've had a couple of facelifts becoming a K5 and a K5IIs and now I have a new family of K-mounts, Takumars, Aunties SV& Spottie, Uncles MX & KX and big film brother 645.

Memory fades over time. I think I was born about 1970. I was a brand new SP500 with a Super-Takumar 55/1.8. Actually I was adopted right from the cradle (gray box with brown lens like decorations), off the new stock shelf, from an agency (camera store). The adoption process took a long time, costing hundreds of mowed lawns and washed cars.

I had older brothers, a 127 Kodak Brownie and an Argus-C33. The oldest brother had a real glass lens! He couldn't do much other than press one button. The middle brother, Argus, could adjust his shutter speed, focus, and lens opening. He traveled thru the Korean War with lmd91343's dad. He had this external light meter thing he was always adjusting and a non-coupled rangefinder that he always checked and used to know how far forward to look.

When I was about six months old, I was kidnapped from my living room table, while everyone else was at a restaurant. I was never ransomed, never returned.

I was reborn months and months, many car washes, and mowed lawns later as a Canon FTb with a chrome nose 50/1.4. I was what they called a brand new product release. My body and lens serial numbers and production date codes are very, very low. I exercised a lot. I then found myself as a Canon F-1n (2nd generation) then a Canon F-1New AE (3rd generation) with an Aspherical 55/1.2 lens. Sometimes I dreamt that I was a Canon 7s with a 50mm/0.95 lens. In those dreams I was overweight.

Over the last several years I've looked in the mirror and seen myself as a Pentax K10D, then a Pentax K20D. Now the reflection I see alternates between a Pentax K5 and a Pentax K10D converted to infrared. I must have a split personality. I guess that's why I see myself with different lenses all the time, a 50-135/2.8DA*, 10-17DA fish-eye, 15/4DA, 50/1.4FA, 35/2.0FA, 55-300DA and sometimes a set of Takumars.

Occasionally, I still dream that I am a Canon F-1New AE with an Aspherical 55/1.2 or a Canon 7s with a 50mm/0.95. They always turn into nightmares when I open my wallet to pay so I can see my images! However those dreams that become nightmares are slowly fading away.
