startup sensor clean

after 2 years i have just realised that my k5 does not make the rattling noise that every other Pentax inc the K30 makes when activated it does however make a rather a subtle noise almost like lens motor focus motor is that normal, or is mine not self cleaning?

i know the shutter noise is wonderfully low but is also the dust shake?

and before someone asks yes it is turned on.

The K-5 uses an ultrasonic mechanism.

And what you hear at start-up isn't even the dust shake mechanism, because

Try this: Go into the set-up menu, menu page 4 and activate 'Sensor Cleaning'. The LCD screen will tell you that it is working (and it does work) but you won't hear a thing.

Coming from the K200D, where you can almost feel the whole camera body vibrate at start-up, I fully understand your anxiety!
